As Ethereum gains popularity among non-crypto native companies, it faces several challenges, including a lack of momentum for altcoins and positive sentiment.

Ethereum Faces Challenges as Non-Crypto Companies Build on Its Network

More than 50 non-crypto native companies are building on Ethereum, indicating a growing interest in the blockchain platform. However, Ethereum is currently facing challenges, including a lack of momentum for altcoins and positive sentiment. Amberdata's Greg Magadini suggests that the drag on ETH is due to the invalidation of EIP-1559's supply burn value proposition, as transactions are processed off Ethereum and settle back to it. This shift from a deflationary asset has impacted Ethereum's performance.

Bybit Reports Security Breach, Hackers Steal $1.4 Billion in ETH and mETH

Cryptocurrency exchange Bybit has reported a major security breach, resulting in the loss of over $1.4 billion in liquid-staked Ether (ETH) and MegaETH (mETH). The incident was first flagged by onchain security analyst ZackXBT, who urged users to blacklist addresses linked to the stolen funds. Bybit's co-founder and CEO, Ben Zhou, confirmed the hack and stated that a transfer was made from the exchange's multisignature wallet to a warm wallet about an hour before the breach was identified. Zhou noted that the transaction appeared legitimate but contained malicious code.

ByBit Suffers $1.5 Billion Ethereum Hack in Cold Wallet Breach

The crypto exchange ByBit has been hacked, resulting in the theft of roughly $1.5 billion in Ethereum (ETH). This incident marks one of the biggest hacks in crypto history. On February 21st, ByBit detected unauthorized activity involving one of its Ethereum cold wallets. The hack occurred during a transfer from the cold wallet to a warm wallet, where a sophisticated attack manipulated the transaction. The attacker gained control of the affected ETH cold wallet and transferred its holdings to an unidentified address.

Ethereum Faces Growing Threats From Competitors and Technological Limitations

Ethereum, the leading smart contract platform, is facing increasing uncertainty regarding its long-term potential. Analysts are questioning Ethereum's ability to maintain its market dominance in the face of rising competition and technological limitations. Layer 2 solutions, which are designed to improve Ethereum's scalability, are siphoning value from its Layer 1, making it less appealing and raising doubts about its future. As competition in the cryptocurrency market grows, Ethereum's market dominance is at risk. Some experts are suggesting that investors sell Ethereum between $6,000 and $8,000, indicating a bearish sentiment towards the coin's long-term prospects.
